US National Security Council: Half a Million New Voters Registering to Vote Means People Want Change – Al Marsad

According to news published by Defence One, the National Security Council (NSC)’s spokesperson Emily Horne said in a statement on Tuesday that Libya was scheduled to vote in national elections on Christmas Eve, 24 December.

The NSC spokesperson Emily Horne said that more than 2.8 million Libyans had registered to vote and “40 percent of whom are women.” She said that this number “includes about half a million new voters for a country that’s been fragmented by a decade of fighting,” and which means that most Libyans want change.

She said that the US will continue diplomatic support for Libyan elections and regional security.
