Shouky Visits Field Marshal Haftar and Affirms Egypt’s Full Support for Security and Stability in Libya – Al Marsad

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Thursday with the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, and a number of leaders of the eastern region.

Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry visited the city of Benghazi on Thursday, to follow up on the ongoing work to prepare the Egyptian Consulate building in Benghazi.

During the visit, Shoukry met with leaders from the eastern region, including the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Hussein al-Qatrani, and the Dean of the Benghazi Municipality, where they discussed ways to enhance cooperation to serve the interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples within the framework of their multiple ties, unity of destiny and goal.


Hafez added that Minister Shoukry also met with Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar. He said Shoukry affirmed Egypt’s full support for efforts to achieve security and stability in Libya, and its great interest in resolving the Libya crisis in a way that meets the aspirations of the Libyan people and restores unity in the country under the banner of a united and prosperous homeland.

Earlier on Thursday morning, Shoukry attended the Libya Stabilisation Conference in Tripoli.
