Communiqué by the National Movement for Libya
on the Upcoming 24 December 2021 Elections

In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate

Given the changes and the current political scene in Libya, and the continued suffering of our people in various aspects of their daily living, we, hereby, affirm to the Libyan people, and the world at large, the following points:

(1) We stress the necessity of not postponing or delaying the Presidential and Parliamentary general elections and holding them on their scheduled date on 24 December.

(2) Any attempt to obstruct the elections, whether carried out by individuals or entities, internal or external, represents a blatant assault and targeting of the Libyan people, and a condonation and support for the perpetuation of all forms of daily suffering that the Libyans are going through.

(3) The necessity for the High National Elections Commission (HNEC) to be completely transparent, without interference in its affairs by any stakeholder at home or abroad.

(4) The prerequisite of commitment by all political parties to accept the elections’ outputs.

(5) The need not to obstruct the candidates in conducting their pan-Libya electoral campaigns; in all regions, cities and villages in the country.

(6) The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) must make every effort and work with resolve and perseverance to follow up on the achievement of the electoral process. The UNSMIL must also issue a stern warning to those obstructing United Nations resolutions and rigidly affirm the application of the sanctions resulting from elections’ derailment acts.

(7) Inviting all the people of the country to wholeheartedly support the elections as a salvation way out from the current and previous crises, and in anticipation of a better future for all Libyans.

May God Save Libya and Bless its People.
