Statement by the High Social Council of the Tuareg Tribes in Libya

In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate

Proceeding from our historical responsibilities towards our troubled homeland, Libya, and with a deep awareness of the suffering of the Libyans, which has exceeded all imagination, and the resulting deterioration in the living, economic, political and social conditions, that have taken their toll on the daily life of the citizen, which requires serious collective thinking about finding a way out of this crisis; we, hereby, affirm the following:

First: Adherence to the outputs of the Geneva Conference and the LPDF Roadmap on Libya.

Second: The necessity of holding the Presidential and Parliamentary direct elections simultaneously on 24 December 2021.

Third: Binding and obligating all stakeholders to accept the results of the elections, and bringing obstructers to legal accountability.

Fourth: Activating the role of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to facilitate and follow up on the conduct of the electoral process.

Fifth: Holding the incumbent bodies responsible for the state of affairs in the country.

We pray to the Almighty God to culminate this historic phase with success so that security, safety and stability prevail throughout our beloved country.
